On July 26, 1956, the American Battle Monuments Commission officially dedicated the completed Rhone American Cemetery in Draguignan, France. This summer, staff will offer “70 Years of History and Remembrance: Special Guided Tours” to mark the anniversary of the dedication of the site.

Rhone American Cemetery is located along the historic route of the U.S. Seventh Army’s drive up the Rhone Valley during World War II. Most of those buried and memorialized here lost their lives in the liberation of southern France in August 1944. 

The American Battle Monuments Commission sites are a constant reminder of Gen. John J. Pershing’s promise that, “time will not dim the glory of their deeds.”
